Our Story

Alice’s specialism is in designing and constructing hats from materials that mean something profound to the wearer. Whether it be a favourite printed fabric from childhood or picked up on a recent holiday, an old school tie, a family member’s cravat or even an old dress, she works with her clients to preserve memories and create heirlooms and tributes in her headpieces.

Alice’s love of vintage clothing first led her to the world of millinery in 2011, where she embarked on a course at the London College of Fashion. Learning traditional methods, she went on to train in the years thereafter at Morley College under the expert guidance of Vesna Pesnic and Sarah Lomax, creating beautiful, sculptural art as headwear; a nod to the vintage era alongside a more contemporary edge.

In her studio in Peckham, Alice handmakes each item with care and attention, using traditional millinery techniques. From initial blocking of the base, wiring, cushioning, to the final trimmings and linings, she is focused on sustainability, preservation and creating quality items made to last.

Her signature style weaves sentimental threads, using the wearers’ own fabrics in her designs – creating anything from a totally matched process or more ‘secret’ nods in a button, trim or lining. This allows for customisations in her collections or a fully bespoke process.

I can wear a hat or take it off, but either way it’s a conversation piece
